LBS
College of Pharmacy, Jaipur is located in a peaceful and
posh area of the City, Tilak Nagar. It is situated at a
distance of about 6 km from Railway Station, 5 km. from
Roadways Bus Stand and 12 km from Air Port.
The society of the
college, Bharat Sewak Shiksha Samiti (BSSS) has a long
history, which goes back to 1960. In 1963 BSSS started the
institution, Lal Bahadur Shastri College, founded
by Pt. Devi Shankar Tiwari, a staunch nationalist, freedom
fighter and a man of great vision.
The
BSSS is making remarkable progress under the able
leadership of experienced, dynamic and dedicated Shri
Prageshwar Tiwari, President; Shri Rajeshwar Tiwari,
Vice-president; Dr. Dinesh Tripathi, Member;
Shri Rajendra Tiwari, Member; Dr. Dhirendra
Bhandari, Secretary and other members of the
Governing Body.
Feeling
the importance of technical education; Dr. V.N. Sharma,
Emeritus Prof. S.M.S. Medical College, Jaipur was given
the responsibility of establishing the Pharmacy
Department, as Technical Advisor. Dr. Sharma, an eminent
Pharmacologist, through his professional zeal, academic
strength and administrative capabilities established the
department in the year 1988 with 3 young and dedicated
teachers initially to run the diploma in pharmacy course.
Under his guidance the department has grown, matured and
established its reputation as one of the best institutes
imparting pharmacy education in Rajasthan.
To expand and grow further, keeping in view the
requirements of the pharmacy profession at global level,
BSSS has started B.Pharm course with an intake of 60
students, from the session 2004-05.
B. Pharm. course is
approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
and affiliated with Rajasthan University of Health
Sciences, Jaipur.
D.Pharm is duly approved by
Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and AICTE and affiliated
with Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur.
First Drug Information Center (DIC)
in Rajasthan state is being run by LBSCOP in collaboration
with Rajasthan Pharmacy Council (through Karnataka State
Pharmacy Council and WHO).
The
DIC provides information by using
World's most comprehensive, updated drug information
software system, DRUGDEX from MICROMEDEX. The DRUGDEX
system is recognized by the U.S. Congress as a reference
standard for drug utilization.
The institute is making
consistent efforts to strengthen its infrastructure,
upgrade the labs with latest equipment and move with time
in the fast changing global scenario.
